IRRAD Data Manager

IDM Usage

The IRRAD Data Manager (IDM) hosts information about the IRRAD facility users, irradiation experiments and materials. By accessing/using the Irradiation Facilities Database, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. These Terms of Use do not apply to external websites accessible via hyperlinks.

The IDM information is made available free-of-charge, for information purposes only. You can use IDM and its content for non-military purposes only, and under no circumstances, you may sell or sublicense its content. IDM relays on the information submitted by the IRRAD facility users. Access to IDM, and all content, is provided on an as-is basis and CERN accepts no liability for its use. You are fully and solely responsible for the use of the content and for any results and consequences of this use. The IRRAD users are fully and solely responsible for the content provided in IDM.

CERN reserves the right, without notice, at its sole discretion and without liability to restrict or remove access to the users where it considers that use of IDM violates these Terms of Use or applicable laws.

You shall not use or refer to any images of CERN, the CERN logos, any of the names or acronyms under which CERN is known, or any other logos displayed in IDM without CERN’s prior written permission.

You recognize that IDM, as well as its particular features, its presentation and design are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These terms of Use are subject to change by CERN at any time and without notice, other than through posting the updated Terms of Use on the IDM website. Nothing in or relating to these Terms of Use shall be deemed or interpreted as a waiver of any privileges and immunities accorded to CERN as intergovernmental organization.

If you have any questions or comments with respect to the IRRAD Data Manager, please contact the IRRAD facility team.

Irradiation Experiments

The access to the IRRAD area is given once per week (Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 12:00) to allow the installation/removal of large samples and experimental test setups. Samples installation on the irradiation tables requires dedicated support frames provided by the users.

Depending on the samples nature, the preparation of an irradiation permit (PRP17) may be required before the irradiation begins ( This safety procedure may require several weeks to be completed. In case of doubts, please contact the IRRAD facility team.

Users are requested to be present at CERN in case their samples have to be handled before and/or after irradiation (e.g. to prepare them for shipping outside CERN).

Installation/removal of complex experiments on the irradiation tables require the presence of a minimum of two people from the users’ team on site. Users are responsible for obtaining the required safety training ranks, access rights, personal (DIS) and operational dosimeters (DMC), as well as all required Personal Protective Equipment (safety shoes, helmet) before the scheduled access slot. All requirements to be able to access the IRRAD irradiation area are available here.
